LOVE SOCCER? So do we!
ECU is offering a Youth Academy for 7-, 8-, and 9-Year-Olds!
At Eau Claire United we know the importance of developing young players both technically and as growing leaders. The Academy is designed as an environment that encourages learning for players ages 7 and 8 without the intense pressure “travel soccer” can sometimes put on players. Our focus is on developing each player’s skills and allowing them to advance at their own rate. The practice sessions have been designed by coaches with years of experience at this age group that have also coached older players and teams. These coaches have a firm understanding of the building blocks of an excellent player and we use the Academy to lay a strong foundation for our players. We also try to get the players in game type situations as frequently as we can without the expense of referees and game uniforms. We will not focus on winning per se’, but will focus on being competitive and learning how to handle game situations. Players at this age need to learn how to win and lose with class and dignity while presenting the best sportsmanship possible. We will strive to instill those traits in all of our players.
Academy is not a league and players are encouraged to continue to participate in recreational leagues.
Eligibility: Boys and Girls turning 7 and 8 in 2016 or players turning 9 that are not rostered on a U9 club team.
Fees and duration: We will run three sessions per year with each session being eight weeks in length. Spring Session in 2016 will be our Intro to Academy session and will be a six week session offered at a discounted rate of $100 while the Fall and Winter Session will be $100-$150 (see schedule below). Players will sign up for each session separately and can elect to do the sessions independently. Players in their first session per year will receive an Academy training shirt and a size 4 ball.
Spring Session May 1st – June 8th
Fall Session August 28th – October 18th **Indoor starting October 9th**
Winter Session January 15th – March 8th **Indoor**
2 sessions per week on Sundays and Tuesdays to avoid conflicts with AYSO. Each training session will be one hour in duration. In training, we ensure that our players get as many touches on the ball as possible during their sessions. Each session has a focused skill (i.e. dribbling small touches, dribbling to space, 1 on 1 moves, etc…) and from week to week, those skills build on each other to the point that at the end of the season, we are working on putting all of the skills together.
